Abstract
This study presents a dry-type bolted connection system for precast steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) columns and investigates its cyclic lateral performance. The system consists of a Steel Connecting Block (SCB) and a Steel Reinforcing Core Unit (SRCU) and is intended for factory prefabrication and on-site assembly using only bolted joints. Three full-scale specimens were tested: one monolithic column (SCB-C) and two precast columns (SCB-HA and SCB-HB) subjected to different axial loads. Specimen SCB-HA exhibited shear cracking and concrete spalling but achieved approximately 85 percent of the monolithic strength with comparable energy dissipation, demonstrating the effectiveness of the connection. Specimen SCB-HB reached 95 percent of the monolithic peak load but failed at a 1.75 percent drift due to brittle fracture. Overall, the results indicate that the proposed SCB-SRCU system provides structural continuity and sufficient stiffness while improving constructability and reusability for modular construction.
