Abstract
We have developed the computer-aided and robot-assisted system for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery. The surgical robot system includes the pre-planning module, registration and navigation module and automatic tunnel drilling module. The sawbone experiments were performed for both of single-bundle and double-bundle ACL reconstruction surgery. The experimental results were compared with the planning results in terms of the position and angle accuracies, and safety angles. The experiment accuracies were in clinically acceptable range. The developed surgical robot system would be further investigated by performing cadaver studies for future clinical trials.
