Abstract
This paper proposes a fast channel estimation (CE) scheme for the OFDM based IEEE 802.11ad wireless local area network (WLAN). The LTF (LTF) -based CE provides better BER (bit error rate) performance at slow fading channel, whereas the pilot-based CE approach is good at fast fading channel. Hence, it is desirable to use both CE methods for higher performance efficiently. In the proposed CE scheme, two CE methods are adaptively selected using the channel quality indicator (CQI) for fast and high performance CE. The proposed CE scheme can increase the CE processing speed with negligibly performance degradation.
