Development of Digital Tongue Inspection System

Abstract

In oriental medicine, the color and shape of tongue gives many physiological information of human body, and many oriental medical doctors have diagnosed patient's disease using these information. But there is still lack of the researches on digitalizing and analyzing human tongue and estabhshing diagnostic criteria. This paper that reports under-developing Digital Tongue Inspection System (DigiTIS) shows the implemented hardware part for image acquisition, the image processing part that includes edge detection algorithm for tongue area separation and tongue color detection algorithm and database system for archiving and managing acquired images.
