Abstract
This research note scrutinises the ambivalent dimensions of digital technology within the realm of tourism, highlighting its complex interaction with physical engagement. By exploring existing literature on the evolving landscape of tourism experiences through an interdisciplinary approach, this paper recognises that the current analysis of digital technology use in tourism often remains biased and narrow. Furthermore, despite ongoing debates surrounding digital well-being, discussions have been largely restricted to the utility, emotional use, and moderation of digital resources. Drawing on philosophical insights from the Chinese classic I-Ching, which offers a holistic understanding of happiness in the contemporary digital era and the tourism domain, this research provides a comprehensive theoretical blueprint for digital happiness in tourism. This robust framework aims to elucidate the harmonious integration of digital elements into the tourism landscape.
