Abstract

How post treatments of a polyimide (CBDA-ODA) alignment layer photo-decomposed by linearly polarized UV affect the LC alignment and the LCD electro-optical properties has been investigated. It has been shown that the cleaning with a selective solution/solvent and/or the proper thermal treatment appear to increase the anisotropy of the alignment layer and the degree of in-plain LC alignment and subsequently improve the LCD electro-optical properties.
