Abstract
The present study was performed to examine the genes expression during osseointegration of dental implant. Machined, resorbable blast media(RBM), oxidized surface treated implants were used in this study. This 3 different surface treated implants with 5 mm in length and 3 mm in diameter were placed in the tibia of the rabbit. In the control group, only bone defect was made. Rabbits were sacrificed for histomophormetric evaluation and Gen-eFishing analysis at 1, 2, 6 weeks after implant placement. In histomorphometric evaluation with the measurement of BIC(bone-implant contact ratio) and BA(bone area ratio), RBM surface implant showed highest value in both BIC and BA, and machined surface implant showed lowest score. In GeneFishing™ screening analysis, 52 DEGs(differentially expressed genes) were expressed in 1 week group and 50 DEGs in 2 weeks group. This result suggests that implant surface treatment modulates the gene expression of bone tissue around dental implant. And then, direct sequencing and BLAST of 33 DEGs were performed. 6 DEGs were identified as known genes. Other DEGs were EST(expressed sequence tag) or unknown genes. This results suggests that many unknown genes are related to osseointegration of dental implant.
