Abstract
The recent international focus on nuclear activity on the Korean Peninsula has been mainly on the northern part of it. However, if we shift our gaze toward the south, it is not difficult to see a desirable example of an ongoing, vigorous growth in the peaceful use of atomic energy. This paper summarises the current status of South Korean atomic energy activity, discusses the driving factors for the growth and suggests some insights into the problems, which the Korean nuclear society is currently confronting.
