Incidence and patterns of aborting a robot-assisted arthroplasty - the reasons and how to cope with them -

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

To perform a successful arthroplasty with active surgical robot, each sequence should be adequately orchestrated. But sometimes, we encountered the obstacles that led to abort a robotic procedure during operation. We reviewed our aborted cases to elucidate the reasons of abortion and to find the solutions of those problems. Among 86 planned robotic arthroplasty, total of 20 cases were aborted in any reason. We classified the causes of abortion as mechanic, interactive and humane. Except a case of corrupted file, none of them was related with the robot itself. Although they were not predictable, most cases were avoidable.
