Abstract

Based on transmission line theory considering radiation effects, this paper presents a Meta-structured Leaky Wave Antennas(MLWA) for backfire and broadside radiation using high radiation unit cell. The electrical length of the RH transmission line is π/4 (45°) at 8GHz. We use gap capacitors on the main line and also the ground to realize C0 and via inductors to realize L0. The total number of the used unit cells is 6 for all designed antennas. In case of backfire radiation, 96% of the input power is radiated and total gain is 6.6dB at 30 (from the broadside direction). In case of broadside radiation, 98% is radiated and total gain is 7.3dB at 2°.
