Abstract

In this study, organic thin-film transistor (OTFT) fabricated with pentacene was passivated by using a lamination method and its longevity enhancement was investigated. In order to passivate OTFT, an adhesive multilayer composed of polyacrylate-based adhesive and Al film was adhered onto OTFT by using a lamination process under a dry nitrogen atmosphere. The initial field effect mobility of passivated OTFT was 2.0×10-1cm 2/Vs, and it was almost not changed up to 45 days in air. It was found that the adhesive multilayer could effectively protect OTFT fabricated with pentacene from water, oxygen and UV light and that the stability of the OTFT could be maintained for a long period of time, suggesting that the lamination process is a novel light-weight flexible passivation method for plastic-based OTFTs.
