Abstract
The magnetic strip domains in the spin reorientation transition region in (Fe/Ni)/Cu(001) and Co/Cu/(Fe/Ni)/Cu(001) were investigated using photoemission electron microscopy (PEEM). It was observed that for (Fe/Ni)/Cu(001), the strip domain width decreases as the Fe/Ni film approaches the spin reorientation transition (SRT) point. It was also observed that the interlayer coupling between the Co and Fe films serves as an in-plane magnetic field to align the magnetic stripes of the Fe/Ni film at the SRT. The results show that the dependence of the strip domain width on the magnetic anisotropy and on the interlayer coupling was revealed by considering magnetic stripes within an in-plane magnetic field.
