Abstract
The 2D uniplanar compact photonic band gap (UC-PBG) structure is modelled by R, L, C equivalent circuit using the transmission line theory. As such, the results using electromagnetic (EM) simulation and the given equivalent circuit are in reasonably good agreement. The design based on the proposed equivalent circuit is said to be sufficient enough for an initial design. Moreover, the design example for enhancement of the isolation between the patch elements has verified the usefulness of the proposed equivalent circuit.
