Abstract

This paper presents a new standard rectangular waveguide bandpass filter (BPF) design method based on complementary split ring resonator (CSRR). 3-dB fractional bandwidth (FBW) from 3.2% to 31% can be controlled by split positions along the slot in the resonator. A modified lumped element circuit model is proposed and used to explain the resonant frequencies of the CSRR. A design example of a Ku-band 3rd order BPF with 5% FBW and maximum insertion loss of 0.47dB in the pass band is introduced. This technique provides a transmission zero at the upper transition band.
