Abstract

We have proposed peripheral dimming technology that reduces the image brightness in peripheral area based on the human visual system. This study presents how peripheral dimming should be applied depending on the screen field of view (FoV) the user watches. Threshold conditions for peripheral dimming of various FoVs are derived through user study in an environment simulating virtual reality.
