Abstract
We report the dramatic effects of polymer chain isolation on the photonic properties of blue-emitting poly(9,9'-dioctylfluorene). The organic/inorganic nanocomposite materials with two- or three-dimensional geometry and good barrier properties prevented photo-oxidation by blocking the penetration of oxygen and moisture. The materials also reduced keto-defects which generate non-pure blue light, and greatly enhanced the EL output resulting from the hindered interchain interactions.
