Abstract
This paper describes a method of a probabilistic analysis of MPEG-4 error resilience tools. It reduces the burden of computer simulation. In order to determine design parameters for MPEG-4 error resilience tools, a lot of combinations with respect to bitrate, video packet size, bit error rate, etc. should be evaluated which usually requires tedious computer simulation. Without computer simulation, the probabilistic analysis provides average behavior of error resilience tools. The validity of probabilistic analysis is evaluated by comparison to results of actual computer simulation.
