Reduction of leakage currents in organic photovolatics with WOx dopping in PEDOT:PSS

Abstract

The organic-organic / inorganic interfaces in organic electronics has sever impacts on performance and stability of devices.1-2) In this study a sol-gel prepared WOx solution were mixed in a commonly used PEDOT:PSS for anode buffer layer. WOx doping in PEDOT:PSS reduces leakage currents by one order of magnitude in organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices and improves the conversion efficiency of OPVs by ∼13%. OPVs stored in air for 5000 hour (5k hr) shows significant increment in the leakage currents of PEDOT:PSS while WOx doping could play major role to maintain the leakage currents. As well as the saturation and diode quality factor of OPVs are also checked at varying temperature.
