Abstract

High-entropy alloys (HEAs) are generally synthesized using conventional alloying techniques, such as arc melting, induction melting, and powder metallurgy. Here we report the superconducting properties of the representative high-entropy alloys Ta1/6Nb2/6Hf1/6Zr1/6Ti1/6. The superconducting properties of HEA superconductors are significantly different between arc melting and powder metallurgy methods, such as spark plasma sintering (SPS)Spark plasma sintering and hot press (HP) sinteringHot press sintering. The fundamental mechanisms underlying the properties of HEAs are actively being studied, and new compositions and processing methods are being developed to further enhance HEA performance. Here, we introduce the strongly correlated and strongly coupled s-wave superconducting properties of the arc-melted Ta1/6Nb2/6Hf1/6Zr1/6Ti1/6 compound. The SPS mixture of Ta1/6Nb2/6Hf1/6Zr1/6Ti1/6 exhibited significantly increased vortex pinning, resulting in an increase in the critical current densityCritical current density. The vortex dynamics exhibit unconventional behavior, such as the magnetic vortex avalancheVortex avalanches effect. We compare magnetic vortex avalanchesVortex avalanches and the vortex pinning effect in terms of the composition and synthesis methods.
