Abstract

We report here the photo-luminescence(PL) and electro-luminescence(EL) properties of two conjugated compounds based on bipyridine moiety, 4,4′-Bis-[2-(5-dimethylaminothiophen-2-yl)vinyl]-[2,2′]bipyridinyl(A TBP), 4,4′-Bis-[2-(4-diphenyl aminophenyl)vinyl]-[2,2′]bipyridinyl(APBP), as emitting materials. The ITO/NPB/ATBP /Alq3/LiF/Al device shows green EL spectrum at 550nm and turn-on voltage at 6V. APBP shows bluish-green EL around λ max=485nm and turn-on voltage at 6V and 1.7 Cd/A efficiency in ITO/NPB/APBP/Alq3/LiF/Al device.
