Abstract
We synthesize a crystal-structure microparticle as a bacterial carrier using crystalline camphor. A photopolymer, polyethylene glycol diacrylate, was mixed with the camphor, and then the mixture was cooled down to form a crystal. Then, the crystal structure was used as a template to form a hollow crystal-structure inside a microparticle during a fabrication process of microparticles by photopolymerization, thereby generating the crystal-structure microparticle easily. That was successfully utilized as a bacterial carrier by these internal maze paths and rooms. The bacterial population into the crystal-structure microparticle can be controlled via a concentration of bacterial medium. The crystal-structure microparticles will be applied for bacterial research, such as cellular communication and three-dimensional cell culture.
