Abstract

Group audience responds collectively to a stimulus unlike an audience. Total group arousal is formed by exchanging emotional effects with surroundings. Empirical approaches are not enough by comparison to various theoretical approaches related to group arousal. Thus we have preceded the study for empirical group arousal measurement based on movement synchronization of group. At first, we measure that movement response of each member are synchronized. And then, the group arousal is calculated by using the degree of synchronization. We propose the method for measuring the group arousal based on movement synchronization, and show the performance of it through experiment. It is set that threshold for deciding if there is the response for stimulus. Then we evaluate the proposed method for six groups with each two responses, and the accuracy of it appeared about 62.36% through experimental.
