Abstract

A defect model for neodymia-doped urania (NDU) was constructed based on the defect structures of pure and gadolinia-doped urania. In addition to the defects existing in pure urania, NDU has dopant-vacancy and dopant-interstitial clusters. The site number of the dopant-interstitial cluster is reduced with the addition of dopants. This model quite well predicts the experimentally-measured oxygen potential of NDU.
