Vetter on Multi-Track Dispositions

Barbara Vetter, in her recent papers, conducts an influential discussion about the multi-track nature of dispositions and concludes that dispositions are more multi-track than generally thought to be. In this paper, I will argue that her discussion has many flaws. Among other things, her discussion does not address the crucial question of under what conditions two apparently unrelated dispositions are sub-track dispositions of one and the same disposition. I will argue below that the lack of concern about this question has devastating consequences on her discussion about multi-track dispositions.
